Detroit probably makes the best locker but it comes with handling issues because of locking and unlocking. Brand has nothing to do with it. It’s just a name. Honestly unless you’re doing serious mudding or rock crawling there’s no point in running front and rear lockers. Hell there’s no point in lockers at all. An eaton limited slip will do the job believe it’s known as a tru trac. Detroit is made by eaton so it might be a detroit tru trac. Stay away from the dana trac lok at all costs that’s what ive got in mine and it’s worthless granted it’s got 184k on it but i’ve got very little torque transfer for a limited slip, back to the detroit lockers one problem (probably the only problem) i’ve ever heard of with them is people burning up the dog clutchs and turning them into a spool which isn’t exactly a good thing. But it’s still probably the cheapest and best bet. You could got with an auburn locker but most people say they don’t hold up. There’s the arb air locker but that requires a compressor (which isn’t a bad thing they’re handy to fill up tires and what not. But if you have cold winters you have to dump alcohol in them which can be picked up at any truck stop. Ice in the air lines will render your locker useless. There’s also the eaton e locker and that isn’t too bad either aside from the wiring. However the first thing you have to do is find them for your app. Detroit lockers are very popular and they’re the easiest to come by so that’s what i’d recommend. Just remember you should be replacing the ring and pinion which gets very expensive and the lockers are expensive depending on your axles and you need the axle information on how many splines they have obviously and you should be looking at lockers that are 4.56’s and up which is what gears you should be looking at. So that’s your info and my opinions on the matter at hand.
