Your Questions About New Car Prices In 1984

Sandra asks…

1984 Cadillac Eldorado – good car?

I’m looking to buy a new car. Found this 1984 Cadillac Eldorado – two seater with 60,000 miles. It’s in good condition, AC doesn’t work, but no dents or scratches. Woman selling it was hoping for $4000 but she said she is very negotiable on that price – she knows she won’t get that much.

I have no clue about cars – just wondering if its 1. a good car and 2. what price you would but it for.

Thanks for your time.
I meant to saw its a two door – it can seat four.

Donald asks…

3500 dollar 1984 toyota landcruiser needs A/C is it worth it to buy and have fixed?

My family and I need a new car and this one is in our price range, and the right size. according to the owner it runs great but there is no A/C. Is it worth it to buy this vechicle and have the A/C fixed or should I keep looking?

admin answers:

Too much money for a vehicle this old!1 Is there ANY rust??? HAve the underside examined first. The A/C is relatively easy to repair. THe junk yards have plenty of good, used A/C system parts with warranties. It will do no good if your shock topwers are about ready to rust through!! Have car examined first, and offer them less money for it. This thing will probably eat a lot of gas!!!

Jenny asks…

How much did a new Ford Escort XR3i Convertible cost in 1984 (B Reg)?

I saw one of these cars the other day and mentioned how much I thought they would have cost new, my friend seemed to think they were only around £10 000 which I think is much less than the actual price. If you bought one or sold them can you let us know the correct price and help us resolve the matter.
Would be great to know how people know the price and of any websites where we can find out this info – thanks.

admin answers:

List price was £9,930
