Automated E-mail System

Welcome to California DMV's Automated E-Mail System. This automated system is a pilot program that will provide DMV customers with answers to general questions via automated e-mail responses.

This pilot will also allow DMV to determine the volume and nature of incoming e-mail as well as determine the need for a one-on-one e-mail response unit.

You may send e-mail anytime to our Automated E-mail System. This system can only provide general answers; it cannot respond to individual record-specific questions. To help us provide the best answer to your question, please select one of the following:

• Driver License, Identification Card, and Sales Person License (For information related to Driver Licenses, Identification Cards, DUIs, and occupational licenses, i.e., dealerships)
• Vehicle Registration  (For questions related to smog certificates, registering vehicles and vessels)
• Commercial Industry Operations  (For questions related to motor carrier program i.e., intrastate vehicles)
• Other General Information (For information not related to the areas listed above i.e., abandoned vehicles, DMV forms)

If your question involves your individual record, please contact DMV at 1-800-777-0133 during normal business hours, and one of our technicians will be happy to assist you. Mondays and the day after holidays are our heaviest call volumes; the best days to call us are Thursday and Friday.
